Get the old YouTube buffering with YouTube Center

It’s been a while since YouTube added a new buffering method called “Dash Buffering”, and what it does is load your video by blocks, that’s why when you return to a previous one the video is reloaded, because that block was not buffered anymore. This works great with fast Internet connection, but not so great with an slow connection. So, YouTube center was created.

YouTube Center settings

YouTube Center is a browser extension and script that adds a crazy number of customization options to YouTube, from the default size of the player, to showing the Share options when the video is over, to removing the Dash Playback.

Of course, there are some things you need to do to manage to install this extension.

Between the features, well, there is a ton of them

  • Use YouTube’s old buffering mode
  • Default player size
  • Default player quality
  • Allow to download videos
  • Shows maximum video quality from the thumbnail
  • Shows likes/dislikes from the thumbnail
  • Turn off the lights
  • Change video aspect
  • Toggle repeat
  • Disable embedded videos on non-YouTube sites

And tons more

Download it, try it for yourself. If you disable the Dash Playback and won’t work the first time, try refreshing the page.
