YSK you can send images on Twitter via Direct Messages

Twitter's Direct Message.

Today Tweetdeck updated with a new awesome feature: You can now send images via Direct Messages, and according to a friend, this is also possible from the iOS Twitter app, but so far is not possible from Twitter’s site.

I have no idea how iOS added this feature, but here’s how to add images using Tweetdeck.

Tweetdeck DMs

Let’s hope twitter adds this feature soon. Sounds great.

YSK Google can tell you the list of songs of an album

Another quick note. This is an old Google trick that is practically useless, but still, if you use the format:

Artist AlbumName tracklist

The “Artist” part is optional and useful if there are two albums with the same name from different artists. The result will be this:

tracklist

You can use tracklist, track list, or song list.

Batman: The Deal - A fan-made comic

I really like dark fan-made comics; since people don’t have to stick to the original story, they can just do almost what they want, from killing characters to breaking the laws of physics. Anyway, here’s a Batman related one that I really enjoyed called The Deal.

TheDeal

You can click on the image to go to the site.

YSK there is an online version of CAH (Cards Against Humanity)

Card Against Humanity, for those who don’t know, is a politically incorrect table game, that’s the best definition I can think right now. Anyway, for those who can get the physical version of the game called Pretend you’re Xyzzy. This game is completely made in JavaScript, so you don’t need to install anything.

Cards against humanity.

The site lists two servers that you can use to play against other players. You’ll be able to select your nickname and join or create a game. It’s very simple, and even has a chat that it’s barely used.

In case you don’t know how to play the game, these are the rules:

To start the game, each player draws ten white "answer" cards. One randomly chosen player begins as the Card Czar, and plays a black "question" card. The Card Czar reads the question out to the group. Each player answers the question by passing one white "answer" card, face down, to the Card Czar. The Card Czar shuffles all of the answers, reads them out loud in a humorous fashion, and picks their favorite. Whoever played that answer gets to keep the Black Card as one Awesome Point. After each round, a new player becomes the Card Czar, and every player draws back up to ten cards

jDownloader support 1080p YouTube videos again

Just a quick note to let you know that jDownloader is supporting 1080p and 480p YouTube videos again.

jDownloader

Of course this is good news! But not everything is free, you now need a third party program to make jDownloader work with YouTube. This plugin is called “FFMpeg”, and you can download it portable here. You just need to insert the folder address when asked and you’ll be good to go.

PS: This will only work with jDownloader2.

YSK you can run programs as admin with a keyboard shortcut

So, keeping up with the “run as admin” posts, an interesting thing I found was the possibility to run programs as admin with a keyboard shortcut. The combination is: CTRL+SHIFT+DOUBLE CLICK.

CMD as admin.

Simple. Easy to remember.

YSK How to setup a shortcut to always run as admin

It’s very common to run programs as admin whenever we’re installing a program or even running one. You can setup a shortcut to run as admin very easily by going into Properties > Compatibility.

Run as admin.

There you’ll find the “Run this program as an administrator” option at the end of the window. Just enable it and then hit Ok.

Command Prompt

For the command prompt, it’s a little different, but in case you want to know how. Go into Properties > Shortcut. In that tab, click on the “Advanced” option.

Cmd Shortcut.

A small window will popup with an option, “Run as administrator”, enable it and hit Ok.

Run as admin.

And that should do it.

Setting up two additional clocks on Windows

You probably don’t know this, but Windows allows you to create two additional clocks right next to your main one. And this is very easy.

Click on the clock, then on “Change date and time settings...”.

Change clock settings.

In there, go to the second tab, Additional Clocks.

Enable Background Sound on WoW

Here’s a quick post. One of the things I like about LoL is the background music and sound effects enabled by default, meaning that you can listen what’s happening in the game while browsing or doing another stuff when the game is not you main window. You can do this also in WoW very easily.

First, press Esc to go into the options, then go into System.

WoW Options.

In there go into Sound.

WoW Options.

And finally make sure to check the “Sound in background” option. And voila!

Enable background sound.

Note that not all games have this options, and that’s just sad.

How to create a custom Timeline in Tweetdeck

TweetDeck is by far my favorite Twitter client, and recently added a new feature called Custom Timeline. What this does is create a - what I consider - list of favorite or saved tweets, since it won’t self-update nor add tweets automatically. Anyway, here’s how to create one.

Open TweetDeck on Chrome, or go to TweetDecks’ website. In there, click the icon at the bottom-left corner.

Choosing which videos to download on jDownloader2

So, to complement my previous post about jDownloader2, within it’s new features there is one that allows you to select an specific quality when grabbing a video.

Go to Settings (ctrl+P) > Plugins, then select the plugin of the video service you want.

jDownloader2 plugins.

In this case, I’ll go with YouTube. When you select it’s plugin, you’ll see something like this:

YSK that you can use jDownloader2 to download YouTube videos

If you tried to download YouTube videos lately with jDownloader, MyPony, aTube Catcher, or something like that, you were probably disappointed because you weren’t able to download anything. Well, this is due YouTube changing is streaming mode, or something like that and now is harder to download videos. That’s why I’m using jDownloader2 now.

jDownloader2.

I don’t know about the other download managers, but the jDownloader’s developers keep a butgtracker, in this case, this is the one of the YouTube issue. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to download in 480p nor 1080p, that’s impossible for now. You can download jDownloader2 here.

Two videos showing how much YouTube users love Google+

I recently started catching up with all my feeds, YouTube subs, news, and that stuff. Anyway, G+ is now on YouTube, and is necessary for commenting, which sucks. Now, most users hate this new “integration”, but it sucks... real bad. Well, there are two videos that show how much we hate it.

The first one is from Emma Blackery.

And this second one is from TwistedGrimTV.

Of course, there are probably a thousand videos like this, but these two are the ones I really enjoyed. +1

Temporarily Disconnect your Google+ from your YouTube account

As you know, Google is forcing YouTube users to have a G+ account to comment on videos and even to rate the comments. This is a complete abuse on their part and there is no way to disable this, meaning that even if you disconnect both accounts, you’ll still won’t be able to comment or rate the comments.

Now, knowing this, if you still want to disconnect them, go to your YouTube settings and click on “Temporarily disconnect G+ page...”

Disconnect YouTube and G+.

A message will appear, just hit Ok.

Disconnect YouTube and G+.

There, both your accounts are now disconnected, meaning that you comments won’t appear on G+, nor your uploads or activity in general. The bad thing is:

Update your YouTube account.

UPDATE (11/14/2013):

I failed to notice this yesterday, you can select which account or name you want to your YouTube channel, BUT, you’ll still need a G+ account or else you won’t be able to comment.

All World of Warcraft Cinematic Trailers

WoW Logos

At this point you should probably know that I’m a huge WoW fan (even thought I missed Cata and haven’t finished MoP), and since the reveal of the new expansion, Warlords of Draenor, I’ve been very excited and went into World of Warcraft YouTube channel and start re-watching the cinematics from previous expansion, and the best thing about it, is that the music just gets better each time you listen to it.

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

The new WoW expansion was announced today at Blizzcon and it will be called Warlords of Draenor. According to the Lore, Garrosh escaped from his prison and went to Draenor (where the Fel Orcs and Draenei come from) to ally with the savage orcs and rally against the Horde and Alliance. According to WoWHead:

  • Garrosh is put on trial, but before he can receive a verdict--he escapes. He has a new friend who can bend time.
  • So he decides to go back to the place in time that he likes. His intent is to redeem Orcs and purify the Horde as a whole. The most critical element of his mission is to stop the definitive moment: stopping Orcs from drinking the blood of Mannoroth.
  • Garrosh will make an army to inact revenge.

That’s the main idea. But that’s not all, there is also amazing and awesome new features:

  • Level Cap: 100
  • New World: Draenor

Draenor.

  • New Character Models

WoW New Character models

  • Create a Garrison

Garrison

The Garrison is the most amazing feature here to me:

  • Garrisons are World of Warcraft's answer to housing. You get to build a base like you would in an RTS and you get to customize it. You can even choose what zone your base will be in. You collect followers, resources, and more.
  • Garrisons will be seen while you fly over the zone. There will also be offline progression, if you assemble a group of ten followers it might take a week--and a week later they might have epic spoils.
  • Followers can get you epic gear for your character. This is your home. You get unique benefits. You get professions you don't even have--maybe you build a Blacksmith and get some ability from it. You can assign a follower to a mine so they mine for you.
  • Garrisons will grow over three tiers. When you start, it's small and then it grows. You get more plots with each expansion.
  • There will be monuments and trophies. Let's say you have The Explorer. You may get a special monument for your garrison. If you kill a rare mob, maybe you'll get its head to mount at the townhall.
  • Buildings will have specializations which will become a lot like talent trees. Maybe you have a level 3 infirmary and it will rez you once per day outside.

Anyway, sounds awesome and I can’t wait to play it. Here’s the video, BTW.

Setting Global keys on VLC Player

My always favorite player lacks one of the most basic tools, easy access with your keyboard’s multimedia keys; you know, play/pause, previous track, next track, and that stuff. The problem with VLC Player is that it has two different set of keyboard shortcuts: Local (when the player is focused) and Global (when it’s playing in the background) hotkeys. What we need to do is set up our multimedia buttons as global hotkeys.

Go into Preferences, press CTRL+P.

Preferences.

At the bottom left you’ll see Hotkeys, click it.

Hotkeys in preferences.

Now, make sure that your keyboard keys are not being hijacked by a third-party software like Microsoft Keyboard and Mice Center, Razer Synapse, or something like that. There shouldn’t be any software between your keyboard and VLC, unless that’s what you want.

Anyway, on the Global Keys area, double click where you want to set up the global key and just press it.

Setting global hotkeys.

Save those and restart the player and presto!

PS: You can also use your Naga. You’re welcome.

YSK how to reset Google’s Search Location

Google redirection.

I’m from Venezuela, and to Google that means that I want my results in Spanish... well, to Google and every single webpage out there. But actually I don’t, I want my results in English because I get better results. So for those of you who don’t want to force Google to be Google.com instead of Google.YOURCOUNTRY, here’s the trick.

Instead of going into Google.com, go into:

https://www.google.com/ncr

The result will be immediate.

Google.com/ncr

And that’s it. To return to your local search engine again, just type your country’s Google Address and it will be re-saved.

If I recall correctly, and I think I don’t, it means something like “no cookie redirect”. For more info about it.

The 4 basic Chrome extensions

There are countless extensions, choosing which ones you must have will vary from user to user, but there are 4 that, no matter who you are, no matter what you browse, no matter what you do on your free time, you must have installed. There are also countless post showing which are the most important extensions out there, but those are for specific purposes, these ones are basic and all users must install.

Adblock Plus

The most important extension since the creation of extensions. This extension will hide intrusive ads, block some types of tracking, and even hide social buttons such as comment plugins, Like/+1/Tweet/Share buttons. Of course, this can all be changed in the options.

Adblock.

HTTPS Everywhere

Yes, HTTPS protocol is safer than HTTP. This extension will force a website to go into “Safe mode” or into HTTPS if possible.

HTTPS Everywhere.

Chromoji

Chrome doesn’t support emojis by default, so you need an extension to do it. Chromoji is what you need. (I already talked about it)

Chromoji.

Turn off the lights

Finally, the one that everyone loves but few people know about it. This awesome extension will darken all the exterior of YouTube videos to make it look like a cinema... or at least that’s the idea. Works in YouTube, Metacafe, Vimeo, TED, and more.

Turn off the lights.

Whether you like these or not, you need them, so, install them and you’re welcome.

YSK how to launch Chrome into Incognito Mode automatically

Incognito Mode, I love it, you love it, and there is even a way to create a shortcut to launch it automatically instead of the normal window by using a flag on Chrome’s shortcut.

Right click Chrome’s shortcut > Properties.

Chrome's properties.

Now, at the end of Target, type -incognito.

Chrome's incognito flag.

And that’s it, every time you click that shortcut Chrome will open as an incognito window. In most cases I recommend having two different shortcuts, a normal one and an incognito one to avoid confusion.

Shutting down Chrome, the fastest way possible

This is something you possibly don’t care or even consider, but Chrome takes a few milliseconds to shut down, in some cases a few seconds, well let me tell you that there is a way to boost this speed (decrease it) to practically zero.

Go to chrome://flags/#enable-fast-unload. Enable that flag.

Chrome's shutdown time.

Trust me on this one, the closing time will be amazingly decreased; hitting the button will show what’s behind at that precise moment. Not only that, the processes will also be closed quickly - Chrome takes one or two seconds to shut down it’s processes - and even that is not much, it’s just feels better.

Offline Installers: Skype, Chrome, jDownloader, Windows Essentials, Flash

Online installers are great, they provide the latest update for the program you’re installing and since they’re lightweight, the installer won’t take much space in your disk, sadly, all that comes with a big price: bandwidth and time. But don’t worry, I have some good news for you, some of these programs offer offline installers, also called Standalone installers.

Offline installers.Today I’ll provide to you the offline installers for Skype, Chrome, jDownloader, Windows Essentials 2012, and Flash Player 11.8.

Disable “Auto detecting optimal settings” in The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot

The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is a game developed by Ubisoft that will launch to the puclic one of these days, it will be free and is currently in Beta state. Now, to the point, when opening the launcher, there are several steps it follows before actually launching the game; check launcher version, check for updates, check server status, and some other stuff... but the most annoying thing is “Auto detecting optimal settings”.

Mighty quest for epic loot.

This feature takes around 20 seconds, 20 seconds that you don’t want to waste when playing. To avoid this/disable it, you need to add a flag to the shortcut:

-JustLetMePlay

Just copy that text and paste it at the end of “Target” on the shortcut.

Mighty quest for epic loot.

That way, the launcher will skip some steps and enable the “Play” button as fast as possible.

3RVX: A volume indicator for Windows

One of my favorite things of Win8 is the volume popup... you’ll never realize how useful it is until you get it.

Volume meter.

Anyway, W7 doesn’t have this, and after a quick search I found a very simple and useful software called 3RVX.

3RDX.

The programs works like an overlay that shows you volume as you push your keyboard/headphones to rise it or lower it. It has 7 skins, and can be customized to appear anywhere you want. Also, if you click the tray icon, a little fader will appear that you can click to modify the volume (just like function of the volume icon) or move the volume meters.

Get the old New Tab page on Chrome

Did you check the new Chrome new New Tab page? In my opinion it looks great. Yes, I miss the apps shortcuts, but still looks very nice. Anyway, if you want to change it back, it’s very easy.

Go to chrome://flags. Go down, search for “Enable Instant Extended API”, and disable it.

After restarting the browser, voila!
