Change back Windows’ 8.1 PowerShell to CMD

PowerShell vs cmdOne of the thing you’ll notice if adopting W8.1 is the change from CMD (command prompt) to Windows PowerShell (I don’t know which are the differences between these 2), but users like me are used to (and prefer) ye ol’ cmd to PowerShell; it looks the same, it does everything that cmd does, but still I’m more comfortable using it.

Of course, you can easily access the command prompt by typing “cmd” in the Run prompt but without admin privileges. The best way to do it on W8 is pressing “Windows key + X”. But on 8.1 will appear PowerShell where cmd it supposed to appear.

To change that back just click on the taskbar properties, then go to the Navigation tab.

Taskbar properties

In the first section, Corner navigation, uncheck the third option: Replace Command Prompt with Windows PowerShell in the menu when I right-click the lower-left corner or press Windows Key+X.

The result, cmd returns.
