If you’re a web designer, graphic designer, or a designer of any kind, changing from color to their hexadecimal counterparts is something part of the job... is like breathing. So, Google is making things way to easy allowing you to search colors and find their Hex code.

Although, as anything, this has some rules and limitations. For example, you can’t search “red to hex” or “color to hex”, this won’t work. But you can do “rgb to hex” or “#f00000”, this will work.

But no matter that, try it out and see how it is. I know that it will save a lot of time to a ton of users.

YSK how to check your Google search history

So, let’s keep showing you my Google account information. This time is my search history, something that you can’t disable from this page, you can only delete items and see them.

Something curious that I read on this reddit thread is that you can use this tool to keep a tab on your children’s history, something that, as a technician, many parents ask me to block websites and services from theirs. By looking at their history, I think that the job would be easier.

Anyway, remember that even though you are deleting items from this list, it doesn’t mean that Google is deleting it from their servers. Avoid searching anything you don’t want tracked.

YSK about YouTube “Continue Watching” section

Just a little tip for those who use YouTube on PC: if you stop watching a video at any point, there is a chance that the video will be added to a section called Continue Watching.

What’s so special about this? Well, apparently it will play the video where you left off, which is amazing if you like watching really long videos (my case) and have a really bad memory (also my case).

Anyway, just remember that the section in there in case you need it.

YSK you can use Shift in Google Maps

Google Maps and Google Earth are slowly merging... or at least sharing feature. This is one that I recently discover thanks to reddit, and is that if you hold Shift while moving the mouse, the whole map becomes 3D, just like Sim City or Cities Skylines.

Although if a very useless trick, it’s still amazing, and shows how amazing the technology is these days. We live in the future already.

YSK how to quickly move files between folders on Windows

Ok, instead of setting up an hypothetical case, let me show you one:

I downloaded a full album of Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai! and I need to move the images I like from Downloads to my Theme folder, these folders are located on the disc C and D respectively. Now, I could use a CTRL+X /CTRL+V combination, but that’s just a waste of time.

To move files quickly just press the Shift key while you move the files. Like this:

On the other side, if you want to copy files, you can press the CTRL key instead.

YSK you can send images on Twitter via Direct Messages

Today Tweetdeck updated with a new awesome feature: You can now send images via Direct Messages, and according to a friend, this is also possible from the iOS Twitter app, but so far is not possible from Twitter’s site.

I have no idea how iOS added this feature, but here’s how to add images using Tweetdeck.

Let’s hope twitter adds this feature soon. Sounds great.

Another quick note. This is an old Google trick that is practically useless, but still, if you use the format:

Artist AlbumName tracklist

The “Artist” part is optional and useful if there are two albums with the same name from different artists. The result will be this:

YSK there is an online version of CAH (Cards Against Humanity)

Card Against Humanity, for those who don’t know, is a politically incorrect table game, that’s the best definition I can think right now. Anyway, for those who can get the physical version of the game called Pretend you’re Xyzzy. This game is completely made in JavaScript, so you don’t need to install anything.

The site lists two servers that you can use to play against other players. You’ll be able to select your nickname and join or create a game. It’s very simple, and even has a chat that it’s barely used.

In case you don’t know how to play the game, these are the rules:

To start the game, each player draws ten white "answer" cards. One randomly chosen player begins as the Card Czar, and plays a black "question" card. The Card Czar reads the question out to the group. Each player answers the question by passing one white "answer" card, face down, to the Card Czar. The Card Czar shuffles all of the answers, reads them out loud in a humorous fashion, and picks their favorite. Whoever played that answer gets to keep the Black Card as one Awesome Point. After each round, a new player becomes the Card Czar, and every player draws back up to ten cards

YSK you can run programs as admin with a keyboard shortcut

So, keeping up with the “run as admin” posts, an interesting thing I found was the possibility to run programs as admin with a keyboard shortcut. The combination is: CTRL+SHIFT+DOUBLE CLICK.

Simple. Easy to remember.

YSK How to setup a shortcut to always run as admin

It’s very common to run programs as admin whenever we’re installing a program or even running one. You can setup a shortcut to run as admin very easily by going into Properties > Compatibility.

There you’ll find the “Run this program as an administrator” option at the end of the window. Just enable it and then hit Ok.

Command Prompt

For the command prompt, it’s a little different, but in case you want to know how. Go into Properties > Shortcut. In that tab, click on the “Advanced” option.

A small window will popup with an option, “Run as administrator”, enable it and hit Ok.

And that should do it.

YSK that you can use jDownloader2 to download YouTube videos

If you tried to download YouTube videos lately with jDownloader, MyPony, aTube Catcher, or something like that, you were probably disappointed because you weren’t able to download anything. Well, this is due YouTube changing is streaming mode, or something like that and now is harder to download videos. That’s why I’m using jDownloader2 now.

I don’t know about the other download managers, but the jDownloader’s developers keep a butgtracker, in this case, this is the one of the YouTube issue. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to download in 480p nor 1080p, that’s impossible for now. You can download jDownloader2 here.

YSK how to reset Google’s Search Location

I’m from Venezuela, and to Google that means that I want my results in Spanish... well, to Google and every single webpage out there. But actually I don’t, I want my results in English because I get better results. So for those of you who don’t want to force Google to be Google.com instead of Google.YOURCOUNTRY, here’s the trick.

Instead of going into Google.com, go into:

https://www.google.com/ncr

The result will be immediate.

And that’s it. To return to your local search engine again, just type your country’s Google Address and it will be re-saved.

If I recall correctly, and I think I don’t, it means something like “no cookie redirect”. For more info about it.

YSK how to launch Chrome into Incognito Mode automatically

Incognito Mode, I love it, you love it, and there is even a way to create a shortcut to launch it automatically instead of the normal window by using a flag on Chrome’s shortcut.

Right click Chrome’s shortcut > Properties.

Now, at the end of Target, type -incognito.

And that’s it, every time you click that shortcut Chrome will open as an incognito window. In most cases I recommend having two different shortcuts, a normal one and an incognito one to avoid confusion.

A brand new Facebook feature that we’ve been asking for years now, the possibility to edit posts.

Just click on the drop down menu to the top right corner.

And of course, just as comments, clicking on “Edited” shows the edition history.

YSK you can add Multimedia buttons to your Razer Mouse

Razer keyboards and mice are amazing, but alone they are only another set of hardware, what makes them awesome is the Razer Synapse, which is a software designed specifically to work with these devices, allowing them to do things beyond their normal capability. I usually use my mouse with macros (specific sequence of keys presses and mouse buttons in a row with a single click), and I can highly improve my performance by doing this, but there are other things that many users don’t, one of this is adding a multimedia feature to your mouse.

Is very easy: when assigning a function to a button, just select Multimedia, and then the function you want to perform.

A thing I realized with this is it will work as the keyboard; the keyboard button and the mouse button will share the same functionality and way of working. Another thing was using a non-multimedia keyboard, that didn’t work, or maybe I was doing it wrong, but still is something to keep in mind when adding this function to your mouse.

YSK about Google’s timer

A cool trick using Google Search that probably you don’t know about. If you trying to search for timer, Google can easily provide one to you, it will even play an alarm when it gets to 0. The format, or search, you need to use is this:

timer TIME UNIT

Where TIME is a number and UNIT is a time unit. You can also say something like “timer 2 hours and 20 minutes and 50 seconds”. Just make sure that you separate the number from the unit, and you should be fine. The units you can use are:

• hours
• minutes
• min
• seconds
• secs

No more than that, no “h” or “m” or “s”. Remember those and you should get it right every single time.

Of course, the timer has it’s limitations, the maximum calculation you can do is 23 hours with 59 minutes and 59 seconds.

YSK how to quickly send messages using Facebook Graph Search

UPDATE: Apparently, this no longer works… or at least is not working for me. It was good while it lasted.

Did you noticed the new Facebook layout? I bet you did. And the main reason for this new layout is the Graph Search, which is a complete new search feature (different than the old one) with many options and many customizable searches.

One of the main usage of it is the ability to quickly send messages using it. It’s just a matter of typing “message USERNAME” and then enter to get into the message box, like this:

After hitting enter you should get into the message inbox ready to type the message to the person you want, saving you a little time and several clicks.
