Record your webcam using VLC Player

This is something I’m pretty sure you didn’t know you could do, and here’s how to do it.

Open VLC, click on View > Advanced Controls. This allows you to have the recording controls on the toolbar.

Then go to Media > Open Capture Device.

 

Select your webcam and hit Play.

And you’re done. The videos will be saved to your Videos directory, just hit the Record button to begin and hit it again to end it.

The only bad thing is that the videos take a lot of space in your hard drive, so make sure to delete them if you don’t need them anymore.
